Hello and Welcome to the third episode of Freedom-Cast! Today we are joined by a very special guest, Tom Miner. We are so happy to have him aboard.

Tom works in radio, specifically with 91.9 WGTS as a producer for an afternoon show as well as traffic, voice over work etc. Tom used to work with CMS Charlotte with media relations. Tom has been wanting to do this all his life, and he feels very fortunate to where God has put him. He loves his job and feels very blessed to do what he does.

Tom tells us about how he got into radio and broadcasting. Fantastic story of how one morning on the loudspeaker set himself up for life. Tom is extremely passionate about what he does. So passionate the he would blast radio Disney from his garage. Tom was so eager to learn that he developed a tough skin early and learned as much as he could.

Tom believes in thinking “They’re on their path and I’m on my path.” I loved this saying and it is huge. We do indeed all have unique abilities and we all have something to give.

While in high school he found his way into I Heart Radio as a part-time traffic and news anchor. This was his first “official” job and he never looked back. He does feel very fortunate to have found his passion early on. He suggests that as long as you are moving towards your goal then you are heading in the right direction, regardless of when you start.

In life we are going to hit bumps and hear no’s often, but we can’t let that stop us.

Tom suggests that each and every person finds a mentor or a “cabinet” of sorts. Surround yourself with people who are honest with you and can encourage you. The mentors in his life have made a huge difference for him personally. He also believes in the importance of never forgetting your roots!

Faith is such an important part of Tom’s life. He loves the business of his work and the go go go nature of it, but he has found newfound motivation to read his bible every day, and to pray more often. Working at a Christian radio station has helped him to remember what is important.

Find your passion and pursue it with all your ability. Believe in yourself and give back to your community. One great way to start doing this is to take the Myers-Briggs personality test. You can take that test right here at 16 Personalities.com.

For more of his wisdom subscribe to the podcast and be sure to listen to the full episode. You aren’t going to want to miss this one.
